Baby on Trip: Visiting Our Happy Place in Italy

There are so many good places in earth, uncounted ones we haven’t seen yet. But this one place seems to lure us every year. This specific place which seems never out of date. It is the Garda lake in Italy. We’ve been here once a year since we live in Bavaria. We spent our very first time in the eastern coast of the vast lake, mainly in Brenzone sul Garda. It was nice, since we stayed in a hotel which had its own beach. That time we hiked the Monte Baldo and drove up and down the eastern coast for about 5 days. The cities were very nice, some of…

Mommy in Doubt: Am I Over Spoiling My Baby?

I was somewhat thrown today. That’s when I realized, how fragile I am, now that I am a mother. Every judgement about my baby is somehow a direct offense to me. Today we had our routine pediatrician check up. The appointment was very early. Aurélie usually wakes up a little late, because she goes to bed rather late. We have this kind of rhythm, because we want the little one to spend some quality time with her dad before she goes to bed. Because of the very early appointment I had to wake up Aurélie. And you know the sayings..“You don’t wake up sleeping babies“. She was surprisingly in a…

    Curhatan emak – emak : uncensored ;)

    Baby Friendly Cafes in Nuremberg

At the beginning, directly after the birth of our little one I wished that I had found a blog that enlists mommy-baby friendly cafes with a bit more details, so that new mommies can prepare themselves upon coming to those places.. But I hadn’t really found anything then. After a while, there have been some other mommies who are also curious about the cafes and restaurants that we have visited together with our baby. That is why, I am now inspired to write some reviews of all the cafes and restaurants we have visited regarding the baby friendliness. In the first weeks post natal I was very excited about going…

From MD to Mommy: A Journey from Nephrology to Occupational Health..

A lot of my indonesian friends have asked me, what I actually do as an occupational consultant/physician. In this post I would like to share my experience as an occupational physician. I’ve been knowing some Indonesian MD colleagues who are interested in taking specializations in Germany, since Germany is lacking of MDs these days. A lot of indonesian MDs want to do their residency either in the internal medicine or surgery. But by writing this post, I would like to introduce another possibility which is also just as interesting! While writing this, I fully realize that this post isn’t going to be so easy to write. I am trying to…

Mommy’s Circle: How Does Your Baby Sleep at Daytime?

This is probably THE question that new mommies always hear and also ask. Well at least this is my experience in Germany.. I’m not very sure how it is in Indonesia, whether this topic is also interesting among new mommies (calling out indonesian mommies! I’d love to hear your insight :)) After the puerperium (around 6 weeks after birth) I was finally able to go out again. Well, I already did some short walks around the block before, but in Germany mommies after birth get their official “green light” after the gynaecological check up, which usually takes place 6 weeks after birth. (Short info: once you get your green light,…

A Guide to Learn German in 365 Days (English Version)

How to learn German in one year! I wish I could give some tips of how to learn German in 30 days.. but unfortunately I can’t.. Instead, I will share with you, how I’ve been struggling with this wonderful yet difficult language. This post is dedicated for all fellows, who are struggling to learn German. I know exactly how notably difficult the German language is. I have been struggling to master this language since about 13 years and I haven’t really managed to do so. I’ve already written in my earlier post, what kind of difficulties I had to overcome within my first years of study (and that still happened although…

Mommy on Train – Traveling with Deutsche Bahn with an Infant.

I love going by train and I had been waiting to finally ride a train with our baby. Ever since the beginning of 2017 we had anxiously waited for the new super fast train line connecting Munich and Berlin. Yup, finally by the end of 2017 the fast connection was opened! Instead of excruciating 6,5 hours or more, it now only takes about 4 hours from Munich into the capital city. And it means for us: instead of 5,5 hours, it now only takes around 3 hours from Nuremberg to Berlin! Yippee!! So when the big time finally arrived, I was beyond excited to finally try out the new train…

Mommy on contemplation: when sleeping ritual is successful but a me-time suddenly doesn’t seem so necessary

It’s almost 10 p.m. now and Aurélie has been sleeping. Clemens is on his ski trip with his clique and suddenly I feel so lonely. This is actually a perfect chance for a me-time..or for Netflix-binge. But I suddenly don’t feel like it.. I miss my baby. Although she’s only five meters away in her room. My 5 months-old baby has grown up.. She’s obviously been feeling secure enough, now that she really can fall asleep in her own bed in her own room. It was my goal..as the nights seemed so long. In the first month, Aurélie could only sleep while breastfeeding or if we bounced her on the…

Mommy on trip: Traveling With A Newborn – Baby Winter Essentials

Some friends have been asking, what we had for our baby when we were traveling in winter.. In this post, I’d like to share our first winter travel experience 🙂 Our first trip after the birth of Aurélie was Walchensee, which is a natural lake south of Munich. At that time Aurélie just turned 8 weeks old. Winter striked in a full force at that time, but we didn’t just want to stay home nevertheless. As Clemens always said to me, „there is no such thing as bad weather.. there is merely bad clothing“.. Yeah, sometimes my German husband doesn’t really have the understanding for my indonesian warm blood 😀…
