Mommy’s First Solo Flight With Baby

Ladies and gentlemen.. I am so proud of myself for flying solo to Geneva – Switzerland with our 9-months baby! 👏🏽 Although it wasn’t a long haul flight, the challenge was real because the flight included a layover in Zürich for only 30 minutes! I think a parent doesn’t like to fly alone with a baby, because you know .. a thousand of reasons. I researched the internet already weeks before the D-Day, found some useful stuff but didn’t really find some practical tips for „how to pack the cabin luggage and survive a crawling-hyperactive baby“. What kind of bag should I bring? What kind of clothes should I wear?…

Baby on Trip: Visiting Our Happy Place in Italy

There are so many good places in earth, uncounted ones we haven’t seen yet. But this one place seems to lure us every year. This specific place which seems never out of date. It is the Garda lake in Italy. We’ve been here once a year since we live in Bavaria. We spent our very first time in the eastern coast of the vast lake, mainly in Brenzone sul Garda. It was nice, since we stayed in a hotel which had its own beach. That time we hiked the Monte Baldo and drove up and down the eastern coast for about 5 days. The cities were very nice, some of…

Mommy on Train – Traveling with Deutsche Bahn with an Infant.

I love going by train and I had been waiting to finally ride a train with our baby. Ever since the beginning of 2017 we had anxiously waited for the new super fast train line connecting Munich and Berlin. Yup, finally by the end of 2017 the fast connection was opened! Instead of excruciating 6,5 hours or more, it now only takes about 4 hours from Munich into the capital city. And it means for us: instead of 5,5 hours, it now only takes around 3 hours from Nuremberg to Berlin! Yippee!! So when the big time finally arrived, I was beyond excited to finally try out the new train…

Mommy on trip: Traveling With A Newborn – Baby Winter Essentials

Some friends have been asking, what we had for our baby when we were traveling in winter.. In this post, I’d like to share our first winter travel experience 🙂 Our first trip after the birth of Aurélie was Walchensee, which is a natural lake south of Munich. At that time Aurélie just turned 8 weeks old. Winter striked in a full force at that time, but we didn’t just want to stay home nevertheless. As Clemens always said to me, „there is no such thing as bad weather.. there is merely bad clothing“.. Yeah, sometimes my German husband doesn’t really have the understanding for my indonesian warm blood 😀…

Mommy on indulgence: A Throwback to Our First Two Months..

Four months postpartum.. Many nights, days and intentions later, I can finally bring myself to write again. There have been so many random words swimming in the back of my head. Due to other priorities and lack of sleep, my head seems to be not in a status, where it’s able to structuring these random words into one proper paragraph. Since le hubby is jogging with the small one, mommy has more or less one and half hour of indulgence time. This indulgence time is usually filled with cleaning the house or cooking and an express shower. But not today. Today (after miraculously 8 hours of sleep!) my head seems…

#domoreofwhatmakesyouhappy: Refurbishing my old hobby of photography.

I used to love photography. As I was about 16 years old, my father gave me his old Nikon SLR FM2 and I loved it very much. He let me take some photography classes and I was immersed in that hobby for a while. But then all the years have passed and I grew to forget about the pleasure of photography. I dabbled from time to time, with a lot of simple digital cameras (mainly owned by my father). But I never got the feeling of photography anymore, probably because I am usually too lazy to bring a camera with me whenever I travel. Instead I just use my iphone.…

#domoreofwhatmakesyouhappy: learning Spanish in Madrid, the heart of Spain.

Ever since I know Kerstin, one of my best friends who happens to come from Chile and speaks Spanish, I have been fascinated by the language. From what I have been experiencing, Spanish-speaking people are known to be very lovable, nice and also full of temperaments. I love listening to Spanish music (mainly pop, bachata and salsa songs). And I love listening my Spanish-speaking friends, simply because their conversations are ALWAYS full of emotions and movements 🙂 And so, speaking Spanish has been one of my dreams since the last couple of years. What I learned from my German-learning experience is: if I want to learn a new language, I need…

Nürnberg: the first impressions of our new home

In a blink.. suddenly it is the end of the year. All of the sudden, we have now spent almost 6 months in Nürnberg. I still can’t believe, that my husband and I have left Hannover for over 2 years already. I can’t believe that I actually HAD the heart of leaving Hannover. Well the capital of Niedersachsen will always take a big part of my heart. But I have to admit, that ever since I have been living in Nürnberg, I have grown to love this beautiful city more each day. The perfect size, the historical buildings and monuments, the rich history, the Lebkuchen, the relative vicinity to all of those…

Cologne – There is something special about you!

I have always been a fan of big cities. I love the vibe and the energy radiated, I love the modern infrastructure, people walking fast to their appointments with their coffee-to-go. I may not have lived in too big cities. I guess that the constant pressure and vibe would exhaust me at one point. That’s why I have always landed in middle-sized cities such as Hannover and now Nuremberg, with their 500.000 people and their rather relaxed personalities. But deep inside, I yearn for some excitement and adventures from time to time. Well.. Of all the big cities in Germany, I am a big fan of Berlin and Cologne. This time…

Our short winter getaway in Oberstdorf

The perks of living in Bavaria.. is the close distance to the beautiful nature and mountains! My husband and I, along with our two close friends decided to do a trip to the mountain in the mid of November. It was still autumn (well autumn with below zero temperatures..but still) and I was missing the fresh crisp air of the mountain. This time we decided to go to Oberstdorf. Oberstdorf is a small town, popular for skiing and hiking, especially among the Germans. It is located in Allgäu, a part of the bavarian Alps. There are some very nice locations to go to such as Breitachklamm, Nebelhorn and Freibergsee (a beautiful…
