    The charming Denmark

It was a super spontaneous trip on a weekend. Although I had lived in the northern part of Germany for over 11 years (before we moved to Franconia), I hadn’t had any chance to visit this beautiful neighbouring country. Long story short my family and I were staying in Denmark for 2 nights, primarily in Odense. Why Odense and not Copenhagen? It was because of a conference, that my mother intended to attend to. I didn’t really reckon, what so interesting about Odense. But we had surprisingly a very nice stay in this city (which is even the third biggest city in Denmark, homing about 175.000 inhabitants). This town is…

    Hallstatt – the asian dream

Soo we finally ended up in Hallstatt, Austria! I must admit, that my wish of visiting this apparent idyllic austrian town had started through the Instagram-hype. And I suppose that a lot of beyond beautiful pictures of Hallstatt might just be taken from east Asians, who seem to adore this townūüėä This time of the year seems to be very high seasonal and we got one room in the one hotel I’d been dreaming about just in the last minutes before our trip began! We arrived in Hallstatt on Saturday noon. Since Hallstatt is pretty much a car-free town, all visitors with cars must park their cars in designated areas…

    Our short getaway in Austria

I have¬†realized how badly I’ve treated my blog. So many writing intentions and yet no entry since MONTHS. And so here I am with an entry, in a long due summer vacation, which unfortunately only lasted for 4¬†days. Yes, because of the working baggage my husband and I have¬†been dragging and due to thousands other reasons we haven’t had any proper vacation this summer. We did fly to Indonesia for 12 days by the beginning of 2016. But the definition of an Indonesian-vacation is rather different than the¬†one of a German-one ūüėČ Of course, since I’ve been living in Germany and the majority of my family is still back in…

    Der Berg ruft!

Erlanger Bergkirchweih or the “Berch” as the Franconias say it. It is an annual beer festival, which has had a long history back and proves to be a MUST if you happen to live in the region of Franconia. What’s so special about this beer festival? I was at first a bit skeptical, since I haven’t been a fan of beer festivals, simply because I’m not a fan of drunk people, I can’t tolerate that much of alcohol and believe it or not, beer is such an extreme potent diuretics for me (it means that the time I’d spend in the toilet would be probably longer than the time I’d…

The Beginning – a throwback to a city called Hannover

It was the end¬†of¬†summer in Germany, precisely on the 6th of September 2003, as I set my feet for the first time in Hannover. I began the adventure with 3 other fellows from Indonesia (hello Kiki, Fiona & Yogha!). We flew in with Lufthansa and arrived early in the morning in Frankfurt. It felt¬†like a class-trip and I was anxious of what would come. After some hours waiting in the airport of Frankfurt, we were escorted by very nice german AFS volunteers to travel further to our final destinations. We were traveling in groups and got into the german fast train, ICE to different cities of Germany. I was the…
